Week 2 on Zazzle
So far on Zazzle I have made $0.86. Really not that great.
I don't think I have been doing enough to promote my store. I will work on that for next week!
I did discover it is easy to post products to your blog from zazzle. I will share a few of my newest designs. Hey look at me already starting to promote.

Week 1 on Zazzle
This week I opened a shop on Zazzle.
Zazzle is an online retailer that allows users to upload images and create their own t-shirts, mugs, ect or buy merchandise created by other users (like me), it is similar to CafePress.com
Pros:
Upload multiple images at once.
With quick create you can put your designs on multiple products at once.
Design is put on a model.
Choose mark up on products in market place (vs. Cafepress set 10%)
Cons:
Not sure yet it is only week 1. I will let you know!
Feel free to compare my zazzle store vs. my cafepress store:

How to make tons of money and become successful on Cafepress!
How to make tons of money and become successful on Cafepress! Ha. I really don't know but below is my experience with selling items Cafepress. So far I have not made much money and definitly can not quit my day job (if I make enough to cover my cell phone bill each month I am happy).
I have always wanted to open a Cafepress shop but had no idea if I would ever sell anything. I got my motivation when for a school project we had to “learn something new” and write a weekly blog about it.
Below I have posted the parts of my blog I thought might be helpful to someone starting out on Cafepress. When I was first joined Cafepress I looked around the internet for personal experiences from people who had opened shops and found nothing. Hope this helps!
(I hope to do the same with Zazzle and Spreadshirt when I join those)
Week 1:
About Cafepress:
Cafepress is a web site that makes it easy to sell t-shirts and other products online. You upload your own design and it is added to the products on cafepress.com. CafePress then prints and ships the items as they are ordered. You then earn a percentage of the products sold in your shop. For example, some sales I have made include $.50 on a bumper sticker and $3.00 on an organic t-shirt. For every item sold in the market place cafepress gives the desiger 10%. You can set up on the website when you want to get paid. I have selected when my sales equal $100.00.
End Goal:
By the end of the semester, my goal is to reach $100 in cafepress sells.
Resources:
One way I am learning to be successful is to update regularly. I am continuing to upload new designs and open new free shops on a regular basis. From research I have done so far pro shops appeal to people who have hundreds of designs. I am going to hold off opening a pro shop until I have enough designs.

Week 4:
This week to advance my self-directed learning process I added google analytics to my new blog and to my new pro shop. That's right my new pro shop. The biggest advance this week was finally opening a pro shop. It is still a work in progress but it is getting there. Hopefully this will help my products sell. I since have sold nothing this week, and am worried about making my $100 goal.

Week 11: Goal Achieved
The worry I had of not achieving my goal was in vain. My sales in the last month have really picked up and I have surpassed my goal. Since the start of the semester I have sold 81 items for a grand total of $141.50. My best selling products still seem to be my running and team conan items. Now that I am rich I guess I can retire. Ok maybe not. When I started this I really wasn't sure how Cafepress worked or if I would sell any items. When I first started this I inspired a co-worker to open a couple of stores as well. She has yet to sell any items. This was a great learning experience and I will continue to sell items on Cafepress.
Week 12 - Last Post
Selling items on Cafepress was a great learning experience. The resources I found at the beginning of the semester really came in handy. This research told me to:
- Update regularly
- Open a pro-shop
- Advertise and promote your shop
- Make popular designs
- Promote stores on a blog
I followed this advice and really did sell more than I ever thought. Cafepress has millions of users, and I have been competing against some of the best graphic artist on the Internet. It is amazing to see my stores selling items everyday and to watch the analytics of people going to both my blog and pro-store. I am actually shocked that my items have sold as well as they have. Current running total $196.50.
